Abstract:
This is a plead to widen the perspective: There is not only intercultural
learning when people of different origin come together, but also within one
culture when we regard the (scientific) subcultures. Considering mathematics to
a culture of formal thinking, learning mathematics can be understood as
intercultural learning. In order to explain this view, mathematics is presented
as a separate culture, the characteristics of mathematics learning as
intercultural learning are discussed and it is sketched what classical
intercultural education studies may gain from this perspective.
